We are committed to making positive changes in our communities to ensure that the areas where we operate continue to thrive.
We engage with communities and interest groups to share information about Western through site tours, workshops, career fairs, and participation in community events. As part of our certification programs, our Public Advisory Groups include local community representatives who review our performance.
Initiatives that foster well-being and bring communities together.
Initiatives focused on needs that are important to Indigenous communities, including procuring wood to celebrate the Indigenous culture of those communities whose traditional territories Western’s operations overlap.
Investments that support education, awareness and enhance the long-term health of forests and the environment.
Initiatives and programs that provide research and contribute to climate change solutions.
Western strives to make a positive and lasting impact through our dedicated community giving – whether through our financial contributions or volunteer hours. Western provides logs, lumber and hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to community groups large and small.
All applications to our Community Enhancement Fund must be received through our online application system. Please visit the application page for eligibility guidelines.
Western contributes to the social fabric of B.C. in many ways, including public enjoyment of our working forests. We build and maintain a vast network of forest service roads that are also used by the public to access remote communities and recreation areas. Western supports dozens of designated rec sites within our tenures by performing site checks and repairs for visitor safety from hazards such as wind-fallen trees.
All drivers should be adequately prepared for traveling on these service roads, including carrying a vehicle emergency kit. Campers are required to follow provincial fire restrictions and are responsible for removing all garbage upon departure.
