Natural wood timbers from Western Forest Products create a distinctive, warm and welcoming look for your home or project with unique characteristics that man-made composites generally cannot match. No two timbers are identical, even if they’re taken from the same log. Sought after by architects, designers, custom home builders and discerning homeowners, the combination of WFP COAST TIMBERS’ grain, texture and colours can create a naturally luxurious experience.
WFP COAST TIMBERS are held to high manufacturing standards to help ensure consistent integrity and beauty for indoor/outdoor residential and industrial uses. They have a full-resawn rough look on all sides and are available in a wide variety of dimensions.
Our timbers are sourced from tree species that grow naturally in a spectrum of hues, ranging from a light honey yellow to a deep sienna red, resulting in final products that have rich tonal qualities, fine grain and deep, natural luster.
Douglas-Fir is a beautiful wood species known for its strength, warm, soothing colour, and straight and fine grain that creates an elegant and distinguished look.
Known for its combination of durability and fine looks, Douglas-Fir is a popular choice to work with as the wood seasons well and dries evenly, and generally remains straight and true with little distortion or checking (naturally occurring cracks that appear in all large timbers).
Due to its high strength, durability and resistance to abrasion, Douglas-Fir is often used structurally in building and construction projects, such as bridges, wharves, and trestles, log homes and commercial buildings.
WFP Douglas-Fir timbers are favoured as an appearance product, such as roof trusses, posts and beams, where both looks and strength are important.

Western Red Cedar is well-suited for both indoor and outdoor applications. Western Red Cedar is rich in natural compounds that can act as preservatives which make the wood highly resistant to weather, rot, and insects. Western Red Cedar is also pitch and resin-free, meaning it can readily accept a range of stains and finishes. WFP COAST TIMBERS can also be left unfinished, gradually developing a beautiful, rustic, silvery-gray patina over time.

Known for its distinctive beauty, Yellow Cedar is one of the hardest, most durable cedars in the world, while easy to mill and work with. Sought globally for its long-lasting beauty it brings to decks and outdoor structures, Yellow Cedar is ideal for a wide range of uses where strength and beauty are key factors. The species is also highly workable and is popular in carving and custom work where appearance is a primary consideration.
Yellow Cedar has a smooth, rich texture and straight grain and generally displays a distinctive honey-yellow colour. What’s more, Yellow Cedar has naturally-occurring, rot-repelling tannins and oils that can make it weather and insect resistant. Like Western Red Cedar, when Yellow Cedar is freshly cut it has a distinct aroma, adding another unique element to this versatile wood. Yellow Cedar can be stained, or left unfinished to weather naturally to silvery-grey colour.
WFP’s Yellow Cedar timbers have earned a reputation for their fine looks and quality, being used in architectural applications like Japanese temple construction, and traditional housing. As it can be naturally-resistant to the elements, rather than requiring a chemical preservative, Yellow Cedar is also considered for use around environmentally-sensitive areas and water systems.

Stunning and strong, Hemlock is used in a wide variety of construction projects, in particular, housing. Hemlock’s strength, coupled with its receptiveness to preservatives, makes it an excellent choice for outdoor applications such as decking and gardens and industrial structures like bridges.
Hemlock boasts a light, honey-coloured appearance and a uniform, tight grain. It’s generally a lesser-expensive species, which attracts architects, designers and builders seeking to create elegant, distinctive projects on leaner budgets.
Although the species is exceptionally strong, Hemlock is very easily workable, making it a popular choice for moldings and interior woodworking. In addition to timbers, it’s often used in joints, veneered interior paneling, furniture, doors, floors and windows.
A non-resinous species that takes most stains or finishes well, Hemlock also sands smoothly, glues well and has a high nail and screw holding ability.
